SAP S/4HANA Quality Management (QM) Consultant

CODEplus is hiring a SAP S/4HANA Quality Management (QM) Consultant to provide expert-level functional support for the Army’s Enterprise Business Systems – Convergence (EBS-C) SCoUT modernization initiative. This role is responsible for analyzing quality management business requirements, configuring SAP QM processes, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, Fit-to-Standard solutions in an S/4HANA environment.

The broader program focuses on consolidating and standardizing processes across the Army logistics enterprise, enabling data convergence from ERP and non-ERP systems, and ensuring the S/4HANA environment is designed, configured, and sustained to support a large operational user base. Responsibilities

Business Requirements & Analysis

  • Collaborates with Army stakeholders, functional SMEs, and Product Teams to gather and analyze Quality Management requirements across manufacturing, logistics, procurement, and sustainment processes.
  • Supports Fit-to-Standard (F2S) workshops to evaluate current-state processes and map them to SAP Best Practices.

Functional Design & Configuration

  • Translates quality-related business requirements into functional specifications for SAP QM configuration and enhancements.
  • Configures core SAP S/4HANA QM components including:
    • Quality Planning (Inspection Plans, MICs, Sampling Procedures)
    • Quality Inspection (Inspection Lots, Results Recording, Defect Recording)
    • Quality Notifications (Q1, Q2, Q3)
    • In-Process, Incoming & Outgoing Quality Inspections
    • Quality Certificates
    • Batch Management & Integration
    • Integration with MM, PP, EWM, SD, and PM
  • Customizes QM settings such as inspection types, usage decisions, control keys, catalogs, and code groups to meet Army-specific needs.

Testing & Validation

  • Develops test scenarios, test scripts, and performs unit, integration, and UAT testing to validate QM configurations.
  • Identifies defects, resolves gaps, and ensures readiness for iterative agile releases.

Documentation & Training

  • Prepares user guides, configuration documentation, and training materials for QM processes.
  • Supports end-user training, demonstrations, and functional walkthroughs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Works closely with Project Managers, Architects, Developers, BASIS, Data teams, and functional counterparts to ensure smooth integration with other S/4 modules (MM, PP, EWM, SD, PM).
  • Supports data migration activities including inspection plan data, MICs, and quality-related master data.

Go-Live & Hypercare

  • Actively participates in cutover, end-to-end testing, defect resolution, and go-live deployment.
  • Provides post-go-live functional support, troubleshooting, and stabilization assistance.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stays updated on S/4HANA QM advancements, Best Practices, and emerging capabilities.
  • Recommends and implements process optimizations aligned to Army business goals and audit/sustainment requirements.

Requirements

Security & Education

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required) 

Experience

  • 3–6 years of hands-on SAP QM Functional experience
  • At least one full lifecycle SAP QM implementation (preferably S/4HANA)
  • Experience in configuring core QM elements such as inspection types, inspection lots, notifications, MICs, sampling procedures, and results recording
  • Experience supporting quality processes integrated with MM, PP, EWM, PM, and SD

Skills

  • Strong understanding of SAP QM Best Practices, Fit-to-Standard methodology, and hands-on experience configuring SAP Best Business Practices in S/4HANA
  • Ability to gather, decompose, and translate business requirements into SAP configuration
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in fast-paced, agile environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members of varying backgrounds and skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Federal government or DoD programs
  • Familiarity with Army Logistics processes (GCSS-Army, LMP, AESIP)
  • Experience with SAP Activate or SAFe Agile methodologies
  • Experience with Quality engineering, manufacturing execution, or sustainment environments
